Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Oversee and uphold the certification of the Primary Stroke Center in collaboration with Administration and the Stroke Medical Director. Lead the initiative to establish a Comprehensive Stroke Center within the organization, ensuring adherence to guidelines for ongoing certification.
  • Monitor and support stroke patients during their hospital stay, utilizing evidence-based practices to enhance both clinical and financial outcomes.
  • Guide staff in the application of evidence-based tools aimed at improving stroke patient care, including stroke order sets and educational resources. Enhance the neurological assessment capabilities of caregivers involved in stroke management.
  • Design and implement continuous education programs for both the community and healthcare professionals, contributing to inpatient stroke education.
  • Actively participate in the advancement of care practices for stroke patients, including the development of practice guidelines and protocols grounded in evidence-based research.
  • Exhibit a commitment to professional growth as an educator by engaging with current literature, networking with peers, and attending relevant conferences. Communicate educational opportunities to the Stroke Team and track their educational progress.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including Occupational and Physical Therapists, Dieticians, Case Managers, and Social Workers, to explore new strategies for delivering exceptional care.
  • Analyze stroke-related data, share insights with the team, and establish performance improvement plans to implement necessary changes.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Clinical experience with stroke patients is essential, along with a background in teaching or clinical program development.
  • A minimum of five years of nursing experience, including at least two years in critical care.
  • Familiarity with data collection and statistical analysis is advantageous.
