Job Title: Neurosurgery Nurse Manager

Job Summary:

The Neurosurgery Nurse Manager is a key member of the clinical leadership team, responsible for providing nursing leadership and support to the Neurosurgery department at Brigham and Women's Hospital. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Management

• Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff in the Neurosurgery department

• Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care

• Collaborate with the Nurse Director to develop and implement departmental goals and objectives

Clinical Practice

• Provide direct patient care as needed, utilizing expertise in neurosurgery nursing

• Develop and implement educational programs for nursing staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in neurosurgery nursing

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and satisfactionCommunication and Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of care

• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and meetings to discuss patient care and progressRequirements:

• Current/valid nursing license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required

• Perioperative experience required, with a minimum of 3 years of current operating room experience

• Leadership experience strongly preferred

• CNOR preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrates clinical expertise in assigned area

• Demonstrates ability to utilize management concepts in the direct supervision of nursing and non-nursing personnel

• Demonstrates effective decision-making ability and provides leadership to nursing and non-nursing personnel

• Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skillsAccountability:

Reports to the Nurse Director of the designated area

Working Conditions:

Works in a variety of patient care environments where there is exposure to communicable disease and hazardous material
