Job Summary

As a Certified Nursing Assistant at Tomah Health, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting the healthcare team. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring the minimum standard of care is met for patients on the surgical and endoscopy units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work effectively as a team member to deliver high-quality patient care and assist in the orientation of new employees.
  • Ambulate and reposition patients to ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Perform vital sign checks, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Collect and transport specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Participate in the evaluation of patient care plans and provide feedback to the healthcare team.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff to ensure seamless care.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
  • Transport patients and equipment as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing education and training.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program and current listing on the WI Nurse Aide Registry.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or eligibility to become certified.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong human relations skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Proficient computer skills, with the ability to operate in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, with frequent standing, walking, and reaching.
