Histopathology Specialist

Cetechs, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking a highly skilled Histopathology Technician to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Jackson, Mississippi.

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to assist in the implementation of special immunohistochemical procedures using enzymatic methodologies with various tumor markers. The successful candidate will be responsible for Antibody Validation and Reagent Lot Verification for Immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures, developing parameters for each specialized procedure, and preparing and staining histological materials.

• Implement special immunohistochemical procedures using enzymatic methodologies with various tumor markers.
• Assist in the development of parameters for each specialized procedure.
• Prepare and stain histological materials, including fixation, processing, and sectioning.
• Decalcify tissues to remove calcium deposits and prepare smears, cell blocks, and monolayers.
• Evaluate the appropriateness of specimen type, method of testing, and any changes to procedure or alternative methods.
• Investigate, evaluate, and establish quality control materials for measuring the validity and accuracy of testing results.
• Manage the operation and maintenance of equipment in the section and adapt equipment for specialized procedures.
• Prepare reagents following complex formula and specifications and troubleshoot equipment.
• Research and adapt procedures used in the department in accordance with accreditation standards and policies/procedures.
• Ensure specimens are correctly labeled with appropriate request information and resolve issues.
• Maintain supply inventory and initiate orders for additional supplies as needed.
• Utilize recording systems to document the work process and maintain an accurate filing system.
• Assist the Pathologist or Pathology Resident with autopsy, as needed.
