Paper Production Operator

The Paper Converter plays a crucial role in the operation of machinery that transforms large rolls of paper into fanfold formats or rewinds them into smaller rolls. This description outlines the essential functions of the Paper Converter I position, though it is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities, skills, or working conditions associated with the role.
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage with potential for weekly bonuses based on production performance. Incremental raises are available based on tenure and individual performance.
Key Responsibilities- Operate fanfold or rewinding machinery, ensuring that products are cut to the specified length and width.
- Load paper rolls onto the machine and thread the paper through feed rollers to create smaller rolls of 2-ply or 3-ply paper.
- Monitor the material flow through the machine to identify any irregularities in cutting or winding that may lead to non-compliance with specifications.
- Direct the finished fanfold bundles onto the off-load conveyor.
- Adjust machine settings, including air pressure for brakes, tension, web control, speed, and alignment for optimal paper handling.
- Remove finished products from the conveyor and arrange them on pallets according to the loading diagram.
- Apply splice tape to bundles and rolls as necessary.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications and rework as needed.
- Confirm that products align with the production schedule and setup.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience operating industrial machinery.
- Ability to make necessary adjustments to machinery when out of tolerance.
- Capability to learn and operate multiple machines efficiently.
- Basic understanding of machinery operations.
- Experience with lift trucks is advantageous.
- Physical ability to lift or move weights ranging from 20 to 135 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Consistent attendance record.
- Basic mathematical skills.
