Job Title: Director of Nursing - Travel Position

Job Summary:
Tact Staff is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing for a travel nursing job in Brooklyn, New York. As a travel nurse RN manager, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the Nursing Department and the implementation of standards to ensure the delivery of Quality Care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for resident care.
  • Interpret departmental and institutional policies and procedures to staff, residents, families, and the community.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to assess staffing needs and formulate staff schedules.
  • Collect, analyze, and present statistical data as required.
  • Assist in budget planning and preparation; monitor cost of supplies and utilization of staff.
  • Coordinate activities related to resident care services between nursing and other disciplines.
  • Conduct investigations related to suspected resident abuse, misconduct, neglect, and resident care problems and present findings to the Director of Nursing.
  • Assume leadership role in Performance Improvement program in the facility.
  • Review the 24-hour nursing report to determine the effectiveness of nursing interventions and to identify resident care issues.
  • Makes rounds regularly to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures and to assess the quality of resident care.
  • Conduct periodic rounds with Director of Nursing or members of Administrative staff to appraise selected units or overall function of department.
  • Work closely with Staff Education Department to assess staff learning needs and plans programs to meet those needs.
  • Act as a clinical resource in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Evaluate, annually and as needed, performance of Nurse Managers and Administrative Nursing Care.
  • Meet weekly with Nurse Managers and Administrative Nursing Care Coordinators to address concerns regarding resident care/services, staffing issues, and labor management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
  • Attend conferences and meetings to maintain current knowledge of long-term care issues.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in preparation of NYSDOH survey.
  • In an emergency, perform other duties necessary for the welfare of the residents or the efficient operation of the facility.

Requirements:

  • Three years of progressive experience in Nursing Administration.
  • Documented competence in caring for persons with AIDS.
  • Knowledge of MDS required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • N/A

Education:

  • M.S. in Nursing or a Masters in a related health care field preferred.
  • Completion of an Orientation Program in caring for persons with AIDS.

Certifications & Licensure:

  • New York State RN License.
