Job Summary

The Sonographer - Echo Cardiac Ultrasound at North Mississippi Health Services plays a crucial role in echocardiography from neonatal to geriatric populations and must possess knowledge in using computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform various inpatient and outpatient transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography procedures
  • Complete all preliminary reports, ensure proper charting, charges, filing data, and maintain inventory
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities
  • Engage in ongoing continuing education and performance improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Applied Science or Graduated Accredited Cardiac and or Vascular Ultrasound program
  • Basic and Advanced Cardiology classes
  • Continuing education is required on an annual basis regarding Cardiology procedures performed
  • Certifications: CCI, RCS, RDCS, or (CV) - ARDMS or ARRT - Cardiovascular
  • Work experience: 1-3 years
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Detailed knowledge of cardiac anatomy, cardiac disease processes, and the effect of these disease processes on the cardiac structures and blood flow
  • Ability to perform detailed measurements and calculations to define disease states
  • Knowledge and use of computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment
  • Ability to work independent of supervision and demonstrate excellent teamwork
  • Commitment to customer service and cost control
