The MDS/RAI Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, collaborating with the facility's Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

The responsibilities include:

  • Guiding the completion of Omnibus Reconciliation Act (OBRA) and Prospective Payment System (PPS) assessments.
  • Collaborating closely with the Registered Nurse (RN) to facilitate the RAI process.
  • Receiving directives from the Nursing Home Administrator regarding overall Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) objectives.
  • Utilizing data collection and analysis methodologies to support and lead performance improvement initiatives.
  • Identifying areas for enhancement through data analysis, operational observations, and consultations with leadership and staff.
  • Working alongside the quality committee and senior management to prioritize and develop QAPI strategies.
  • Leading performance improvement projects while providing education and coaching to empower others in leading such initiatives.

Additionally, participation in multidisciplinary QAPI activities is essential.


Qualifications:

Education:
Must possess education leading to LPN licensure in the State of Kentucky.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, including at least 1 year of experience with MDA completion and 1 year in a supervisory role.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:


A thorough understanding of current federal and state laws and regulations applicable to nursing practice in long-term care settings is required. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Candidates should possess the capability to present information to top management, public groups, and staff. Skills in problem definition, data collection, and analysis are necessary, as well as the ability to interpret financial reports and legal documents. Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions is also required. Effective communication skills and the ability to manage confidential information are critical.


Licensure/Certification:
The RAI Coordinator must hold a current, unencumbered active nursing license in the state of Kentucky.
