About the Role

ABM Industries is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, install, alter, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment and controls
  • Inspect, repair, and/or replace equipment used in 24-hour operations
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a professional, polite, and helpful manner
  • Monitor and adjust building automation systems
  • Oversee work done by outside contractors to ensure adherence to HVAC best practices and applicable codes
  • Research, request, and purchase equipment parts, chemicals, and supplies
  • Assist and serve as a backup to other facilities employees
  • Train and direct the work of other classified staff in the area
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in emergencies as needed, including emergency calls at non-scheduled hours
  • Complete permitting processes as needed, per local authority having jurisdiction
  • Perform other tasks as instructed, including painting, furniture moving, plumbing, cleaning, and assisting other trades as necessary
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records, documenting information in an online computerized maintenance management system
  • Assist in writing specifications for repairs and new construction
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
  • Maintain record-keeping in compliance with laws and client documentation requirements
Requirements
  • High school or technical school graduate
  • Five or more years' experience with commercial HVAC equipment and systems
  • HVAC Universal CFC certification
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools, and materials used in building maintenance
  • Ability to estimate labor or material costs/amounts from blueprints or work plans
  • Ability to work in small, cramped areas and at heights greater than ten feet
  • Ability to move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances
