Role Summary

As a Reliability Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the dependability of our cutting-edge technology components and products. Your expertise will guide development and operations teams in creating robust designs that meet our high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) Reliability teams to conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) sessions, identifying potential risks early in the design process.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive testing protocols to third-party vendors, ensuring adherence to Apple and industry standards.
  • Analyze test results across various assembly stages, aligning criteria for success and quality metrics.
  • Summarize reliability findings and communicate insights with cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Oversee the transition of reliability testing from NPI to mass production.
  • Foster relationships with suppliers to ensure they can scale technology and production effectively.
  • Work closely with module and system reliability engineering teams to facilitate smooth transitions from prototype validation to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Drive resolution of reliability challenges by collaborating with Failure Analysis engineers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Act as a reliability advocate during product ramp-up and production, providing data-driven recommendations to address reliability concerns.
  • Lead ongoing reliability assessments to support the scaling of validated designs, considering factors such as materials, processes, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Partner with sustaining and AppleCare teams to enhance the reliability experience and drive improvements in detection and testing methodologies.
  • Innovate testing strategies to boost efficiency and detection rates, leveraging big data and machine learning for enhanced reliability insights.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in reliability testing, including mechanical stress, environmental, and fatigue testing, along with expertise in failure analysis techniques.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability, Materials, Optical, Industrial, or related fields).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degrees (MS/PhD) in relevant engineering disciplines.
  • Strong grasp of material properties and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Familiarity with reliability models, accelerated testing frameworks, and industry standards.
  • Proficient in Design of Experiments (DOE) and FMEA.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a focus on statistical process control.
  • Outstanding problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Proactive attitude with a strong desire to collaborate within a dynamic team.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to present to executive audiences and lead cross-functional initiatives.
