About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Physicist to join our team at Kyocera International, Inc. in Vancouver, WA. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for leading optical, electrical, and other materials characterization work on semiconductor materials and devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments, metrology methods, and instruments related to gallium nitride (GaN) and related semiconductor materials.
  • Perform optical, electrical, and other materials characterization of semiconductor materials and semiconductor devices.
  • Develop and implement measurement procedures, and write simple code to process data.
  • Interpret measurements, evaluate experiments, and provide technical consultation for colleagues.
  • Propose and develop improved methods for crystal growth and/or materials processing.
  • Participate in and/or lead technical discussions with customers.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, with guidance from the Engineering Manager.
Requirements
  • PhD in Physics or a closely-related discipline, or B.S./M.S. plus at least 5 years of research experience.
  • 2+ years' experience and expertise in characterization of semiconductor-related materials, optics, and/or device physics.
  • 2+ years' experience working with semiconductor applications preferred.
  • Experience with simple coding (e.g., Python, C++, VBA, etc.) desirable.
  • ITAR eligibility is required.
