Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance and groundskeeping staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Plan, prioritize, and schedule daily maintenance and groundskeeping activities, including routine inspections, repairs, and landscaping tasks.
- Conduct regular evaluations of facilities and identify areas requiring improvement or repair, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Develop maintenance procedures and protocols to maintain the safety, efficiency, and cleanliness of the organization's premises.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for the provision of services related to maintenance, landscaping, pest control, waste management, etc.
- Perform hands-on maintenance tasks such as carpentry, electrical repairs, plumbing, painting, and equipment maintenance as necessary.
- Comply with all relevant safety regulations, ensuring adherence to proper procedures in handling potentially hazardous materials and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and completed tasks.
- Monitor and control inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Develop and implement an effective preventive maintenance program to minimize breakdowns and extend the lifespan of facilities and equipment.
- Ensure the proper functioning of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, resolving any related issues promptly.
- Oversee and maintain the organization's outdoor spaces, including lawns, gardens, walkways, parking lots, and playgrounds.
- Plan and execute landscaping projects, including planting, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation, and pest control.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the facilities, addressing any maintenance or groundskeeping concerns promptly.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements in maintenance and groundskeeping operations.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance and Grounds Lead or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance and general repair techniques (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
- Proficiency in landscaping techniques, including knowledge of plants, irrigation systems, and pest control.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, guiding them to achieve goals and ensuring high-quality work.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and take initiative as required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with staff and external contractors.
- Knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety standards.
- Proficiency in using maintenance and landscaping equipment and tools.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification; additional certifications in maintenance or groundskeeping will be a plus.
