Invasive Cardiovascular Technology Specialist

Job SummaryThe Invasive Cardiovascular Technology Specialist assists in cardiovascular procedures in the Scrub and Monitoring capacity. This role involves providing direct patient care within the scope of practice, demonstrating competency in coronary intervention, peripheral intervention, electrophysiology studies, atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound, fractional flow reserve, and deployment of closure devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Utilize sterile process to assist physician during procedures, maintaining a sterile field, anticipating needs, and understanding the use and proper prep of invasive devices.
- Practice proper radiation safety for patient, self, and others.
- Assist in patient care within scope of practice, reporting observed changes in patient status to cardiologist and RN.
- Practice safe medication administration during physician-assisted procedures.
- Report unresolved needs in reference to monitoring documentation prior to discharge from procedure room.
- Participate in pre-verification checklist and time-outs.
- Timely and accurate event documentation reflecting hospital/unit standards and including procedure specifics.
- Know the general condition of imaging and interventional equipment at all times, know how to operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures.
- Document failures in a timely fashion.
- Complete patient care assignments within the designated shift.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support quality patient outcomes.
- Populate required ACC data for required registries such as Cath-PCI and ICD.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology with 6 years of experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist and CCI certification (preferably Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)) within one year of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required within 1 year of hire. Intermediate computer knowledge is also required, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
