Job Summary

As a Renal/Telemetry Patient Care Specialist at BJC, you will provide direct patient care to support licensed professional nurses in a team-based environment. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure a safe environment for patients by reducing the risk of harm. You will collect vital information on patients and report changes in patient status to the nursing team. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

* Provides direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
* Implements direct patient care, including administering or assisting patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performing vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
* Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
* Assists nurse with patient and family education, documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology, and acts as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.

Requirements

* High School Diploma or GED
* No experience required, but a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.
