Job Overview

The State of Arkansas seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our rehabilitation services department, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their vocational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and score various tests to determine vocational and academic placement of students.
  • Provide career counseling to students regarding chosen vocation, by helping student in assessment interpretation and program selection and sharing information on financial aid, social agencies providing support, and other educational institutions.
  • Counsel individuals on time management and goal setting.
  • Maintain confidential student records.
  • Monitor and document job market information, including local industry needs and vocational skill requirements for employment.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a master's degree in education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or counselor education; plus two years of experience in counseling or a related field.
  • Licensed as a Professional Counselor by the Board of Examiners in Counseling in accordance with ACA 17-27-301 or certified as a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in accordance with the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
