POSITION: Instructional Aide / Paraprofessional

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; 60 college credit hours or a college degree is preferred. Previous experience working with children is advantageous.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Workdays coincide with the school calendar, with compensation as per the established salary schedule.

SUPERVISION:
Reports directly to the supervising teacher and/or the building principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential skills, knowledge, and abilities required for this role include:

  1. Providing additional instruction, readiness activities, or remedial support tailored to the individual needs of students as directed by the supervising teacher.
  2. Assisting the teacher in preparing instructional materials, administering specific skill assessments, and grading objective tests under the teacher's guidance.
  3. Supporting students with disabilities by providing necessary assistance for physical or behavioral needs to ensure their access to educational programs.

Instructional aides/paraprofessionals may be expected to employ fundamental instructional techniques such as demonstration, modeling, reinforcement, and correction within the classroom environment. Additionally, they may be required to assist students with personal care tasks including toileting, feeding, positioning, lifting, and transferring in wheelchairs.

EVALUATION:
Performance evaluation will be conducted by the building principal in collaboration with the supervising teacher.
