Job Overview

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The selected candidate will become an integral part of our technology division, concentrating on the support of our Investment Management sector. A strong command of technical skills across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is essential, including Agile methodologies, problem-solving, business analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and support. The individual will be tasked with leading a small team of developers on various projects and will report directly to the Vice President of Investment Applications.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The candidate will undertake diverse responsibilities as both an individual contributor and a leader of a small development team.
  2. Involvement in multiple project types (long-term, mid-term, short-term) will require the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  3. The candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners, fostering strong relationships with key business clients within investment teams, operations staff, and colleagues across different functional areas.
  4. Proven capability in managing problem-solving, troubleshooting, and triage situations to achieve successful outcomes is required.
  5. This role includes user support during business hours and an overnight support rotation for applications developed and maintained by our team. The ideal candidate will quickly grasp the functionality of each application to troubleshoot issues, determine suitable resolutions, and communicate solutions clearly to business clients.
  6. Operating in a dynamic environment, the candidate should be adaptable to new and evolving technologies and tools.
  7. The individual will be expected to take a leadership role in projects, requiring deep involvement throughout the project lifecycle, including test plans, requirements gathering, solutions architecture, and task management.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  2. Demonstrated leadership in successfully managing projects.
  3. 7-10 years of experience in software development.
  4. 5+ years of experience in relational database development is essential, with strong skills in database design, implementation, and SQL querying. Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server is preferred (MS SQL 2019/2016/2012). Experience with data warehousing is advantageous.
  5. 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Development tools, including TFS, C#.NET, and/or ASP.NET MVC (version 4 or newer is a plus).
  6. Familiarity with web development tools such as HTML5, Web API, JavaScript, jQuery, LINQ, CSS, Kendo UI/Telerik, and MVC.
  7. Experience in supporting job processing streams and scheduling environments is required.
  8. Knowledge of Python, Power BI, and Microsoft Azure Cloud Technology is a plus.
  9. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services is desired but not mandatory.
  10. Experience in an Agile scrum development environment is preferred but not required.

BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A background in Investment Management is a significant advantage.
  2. Experience in developing financial applications and a solid understanding of financial concepts are preferred.
  3. Experience in supporting and developing applications for equity investments, including trading systems, decision support portfolio management systems, securities databases, and financial accounting systems, is a strong plus.
  4. Leadership abilities, including mentoring and guiding a small team, are essential.
