About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join our Plant Maintenance Division at AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company in Birmingham, AL. As an Electrician, you will be responsible for performing advanced and critical electrical maintenance and construction work throughout our plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform bench repair work on electrical equipment, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of issues.
  • Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints, documenting and editing errors and inconsistencies as needed.
  • Operate a burning/welding torch, electric arc weld, and braze, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Make adaptations to electrical equipment to meet company requirements, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Determine sources of electrical trouble and correct them, utilizing technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Install and size conduit, fittings, enclosures, switches, disconnects, and other electrical components, following national and local codes.
  • Apply thorough working knowledge of electricity, electrical circuits, and equipment to make necessary repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Document procedures and calibrations performed on instrumentation and equipment, meeting current ISO requirements.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to ensure accuracy of recorded data for parts and equipment, locating and entering missing information into maintained records.
  • Perform fieldwork to obtain motor and equipment information, creating a permanent record.
  • Provide training and instruction to Apprentices and other wage jobs in their work area/department, as instructed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. At least 2 years of electrical experience in a heavy industrial environment or successful completion of a trainee or certification program with no experience.
  2. Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  3. Ability to climb and work from high places.
  4. Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
  5. Meet physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment, as administered by the Safety Department.
  6. Valid state-issued driver's license.
