Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary:

The Certified Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of respiratory care duties on general nursing units and in critical care areas, including MICU, NICU, SICU, CSCU, PACU, Nursery, and Emergency Department. This role requires evaluating the therapeutic benefits of respiratory care services, discussing challenges with physicians, and making recommendations for patients of all ages.

Responsibilities:

Evaluates the therapeutic benefits of respiratory care services
Discusses challenges with physicians and makes recommendations
Participates in the orientation of respiratory care staff
Teaches and counsels staff on the use of available equipment

Requirements:

High School graduate or equivalent
Graduate from an accredited, state-approved Respiratory Therapy Program
Currently licensed by the Mississippi Department of Health or current Military validated licensure
Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or eligible to become certified
BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
ACLS and Neonatal Resuscitation certification required at job start

Working Conditions:

Work is moderately active, involving sitting and frequent movement
Exerts a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects
Subject to exposure of bodily fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease
Uses repetitive motions and substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment
