POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities associated with the origination of residential first mortgage loans through external referrals. You will be expected to meet the performance standards and objectives set by management regarding mortgage loan sales and cross-selling initiatives. You will take full ownership of the residential mortgage loan process from application through to closing.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
It is essential to maintain a high level of accountability and transparency by sharing insights and concerns while adhering to established policies and procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring that all actions contribute positively to the customer experience and align with the bank's risk management framework. Your ability to identify, assess, and manage various types of risks will be crucial in achieving desired outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and nurture referral relationships with real estate professionals, builders, and personal contacts.
- Stay informed about Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and operational procedures.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of available loan products, processing methods, and underwriting guidelines.
- Adhere to established protocols for managing exceptions.
- Process loan applications using the appropriate forms and technology.
- Utilize technology for communication, accessing daily rates, and managing loan submissions.
- Gather necessary documentation from applicants and ensure timely delivery of loan packages.
- Oversee the loan pipeline from origination to closing while fulfilling management reporting requirements.
- Provide timely updates and progress reports to branches and applicants.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while managing expectations of applicants and support staff.
- Participate in all required Consumer Lending meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates holding a four-year college degree. A solid understanding of conventional and government lending guidelines, as well as residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures, is essential. Familiarity with federal regulations governing real estate lending is also required.
Demonstrated organizational abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork and customer service are vital. Proficiency in computer skills and basic sales techniques is expected. A strong desire to succeed in a competitive environment is essential.
