Job Title: High School English Teacher

Uncommon Schools NYC is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School English Teacher to join our team. As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and social-emotional growth in our students.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with our curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents to ensure a collaborative and supportive school community.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with best practices in education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives that promote academic excellence and social-emotional growth.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or eligibility for certification in New York State.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and in urban education settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
