Animal Welfare Specialist

A challenging opportunity awaits an enthusiastic and dedicated professional in the field of animal welfare. ABR Employment Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Humane Officer to join their team at the Portage County Humane Society.

This role involves enforcing local ordinances and Wisconsin State Statutes as they pertain to animal law, ensuring the welfare of domestic animals in Portage County, and serving as an ambassador for the Humane Society and Portage County Animal Control.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to handle stressful situations effectively, and strong oral and written communication skills. They must also be able to work a rotating schedule of on-duty shifts and respond to calls at all hours of the day.

Responsibilities include:

• Enforcing laws and regulations related to animal control
• Providing care and support to domestic animals
• Serving as a liaison between the Humane Society and the community

We offer a competitive salary of $16.00 per hour, along with benefits including PTO, a cell phone, safety equipment, certifications, and health insurance. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree preferred.

Average salary for this position in Wild Rose, WI is approximately $38,000 - $45,000 per year, based on national averages and cost of living factors.
