Schedule: 11 PM - 7:30 AM, No Weekends

Job Overview:

  • Prepare and process biological specimens for thorough examination by a pathologist.
  • Assist in the preparation of frozen sections of surgical specimens for detailed analysis.
  • Conduct histology and cytology tasks, including specimen processing, fixation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, and application of routine and specialized stains.
  • Ensure precise identification of samples, blocks, and slides.
  • Prepare and maintain solutions necessary for routine staining and histological procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Adhere to departmental policies concerning quality control and assurance.
  • Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, contributing to workflow, systems, processes, and equipment selection.
  • Support departmental objectives related to service excellence, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues and clients, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Assist in the orientation, training, and competency documentation of departmental staff.
  • Participate in accreditation assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Histology Technician is required.
  • Prior experience in histology and cytology processes is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting.
  • Dedication to continuous improvement and adherence to quality standards.
