Position: Histology Specialist (Full-Time, Night Shift)
Schedule: 11 PM - 7:30 AM, No Weekends
Job Overview:
- Prepare and process biological specimens for thorough examination by a pathologist.
- Assist in the preparation of frozen sections of surgical specimens for detailed analysis.
- Conduct histology and cytology tasks, including specimen processing, fixation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, and application of routine and specialized stains.
- Ensure precise identification of samples, blocks, and slides.
- Prepare and maintain solutions necessary for routine staining and histological procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with established procedures.
- Identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
- Adhere to departmental policies concerning quality control and assurance.
- Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, contributing to workflow, systems, processes, and equipment selection.
- Support departmental objectives related to service excellence, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
- Act as a resource for colleagues and clients, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Assist in the orientation, training, and competency documentation of departmental staff.
- Participate in accreditation assessments.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Histology Technician is required.
- Prior experience in histology and cytology processes is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a team setting.
- Dedication to continuous improvement and adherence to quality standards.
