Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Transportation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for preparing roadway, street, and highway design elements using local or AASHTO standards. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a key member of a design team in preparation of roadway, street, and/or highway design elements using local or AASHTO standards.
- Collaborate with a team as a project manager or task leader for the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for projects of various sizes and complexity.
- Produce plans, including roadway sections, alignment/right-of-way plans, temporary erosion control plans, site preparation plans, roadway profiles, drainage plans and profiles, utility plans, paving, pavement marking plans, signing plans, and traffic control plans.
- Manage day-to-day communication with clients, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to gain Texas reciprocity within six months if registered as a PE in another state.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using MicroStation, InRoads, Open Roads Designer, GEOPAK, or other CAD design software.
- Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in street/arterial roadways, urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years' experience in highway design and/or municipal roadway design.
