Job Opportunity

McCall Thomas Engineering is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicing Apprentice to join our team in the Aiken, SC area.

As a Fiber Splicing Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians to develop your skills in fiber optic installation and testing. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Fiber Splicing Technician Responsibilities:

  • Reading prints and understanding fiber optic color codes to install and test fiber cable in various environments.
  • Operating fiber fusion splicing machines and OTDRs to test and verify fiber optic connections.
  • Placing aerial and underground splice closures, as well as other closures common to fiber optic cable splicing and termination.
  • Performing testing and recording results according to customer specifications.
  • Maintaining a professional working attitude and adhering to safety practices and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in PON splicing, FTTH large distribution and trunk fiber splicing, and ribbon fiber splicing is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel and work overnight stays as needed.
  • Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship is required.
