Associate Laboratory Microbiologist II, Bureau of the Public Health Laboratory

The City of New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Microbiologist II to join our team. As a key member of our Public Health Laboratory, you will play a critical role in laboratory testing and responding to public health threats, including COVID-19, vaccine-preventable diseases, HIV, and other emerging health concerns.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate the performance of laboratory staff and trainees.
- Analyze, coordinate, supervise, and manage daily laboratory operations and during outbreak events.
- Plan, prepare, and supervise laboratory services relating to regulatory standards and organization's policies.
- Ensure all regulatory and safety standards are followed and serves as a resource for accreditation compliance.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in medical technology or in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences.
- One year of laboratory experience at the technologist level in the appropriate laboratory specialty or specialties.
