TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
As an Automotive Technician with the Ithaca City School District, you will be responsible for performing skilled operations in the repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel motor equipment, including trucks, tractors, and buses. Your tasks will include repairing or replacing motor pumps, fuel pumps, generators, carburetors, and shock absorbers. You will also repair ignition systems, transmissions, brake systems, clutches, and front and rear axles. Additionally, you will adjust connecting rods and bearings, steering mechanisms, and align wheels. Minor welding repairs to automotive equipment will also be part of your responsibilities. You will be expected to grease vehicles, change oil and oil filters, tune engines, and set the timing. Furthermore, you may be required to attach and remove snowplow blades and other auxiliary equipment, as well as perform body work repairs. In some cases, you may operate a school bus on an assigned route.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repair and maintain gasoline and diesel motor equipment
Perform welding repairs to automotive equipment
Grease vehicles and change oil and oil filters
Tune engines and set the timing
Operate a school bus on an assigned route

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid driver's license required
Experience in automotive repair and maintenance preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
