Position Overview

The Travel Speech Language Pathologist will engage in a hybrid role, serving both inpatient and outpatient settings. This position focuses on providing essential speech therapy services to patients, particularly in the oncology field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work Schedule: Standard 5x8 hours during the day with no on-call duties, weekend shifts, or floating required.
  • Patient Care: Specialize in head and neck oncology, including tracheostomy and laryngectomy care.
  • Assessment and Treatment: Conduct cognitive, language, speech, and voice assessments, alongside treatments tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Modified Barium Swallow Studies: Perform and interpret these studies as part of the evaluation process.
  • Experience Requirements: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required, with 5 years preferred. First-time travelers are welcome.
  • Orientation: Participate in an extensive orientation program, approximately 80 hours, with 72 hours spent on the floor.
  • Documentation: Utilize EPIC for patient documentation.
Qualifications
  • Licensure: Must possess a valid state SLP license and BLS certification (AHA only, no HeartCode).
  • Skills: Proficient in managing conditions such as Dysarthria and Dysphagia, and conducting bedside swallow evaluations.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with signs and symptoms of various forms of abuse and the ability to educate patients and families effectively.
Additional Information
  • Identification: A government-issued photo ID is required.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, CHEMO, Tech Cert, HIPAA, and state license documentation are necessary based on unit specialty.
  • Health Compliance: Must provide health documents, including physical exams, immunizations, and drug testing results.
