The Materials Operations Leader oversees the entire internal material flow, from the receipt and inspection of incoming goods to their presentation at the production line, including the final stages of picking, packing, shipping, de-trashing, and managing all material movements, supermarket sizing, and replenishment, as well as order picking for intra-plant deliveries. Success in this position is measured by significant advancements in material handling, inventory precision, cycle counting, and prompt transactional reporting. Key performance indicators include ongoing enhancements in delivery performance (both internal and external), cycle count progress and accuracy, seamless material movement for production lines, and efficient labor resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely material flow within the facility and manage the prompt receipt of materials from other locations, as well as the preparation for shipment of parts to different facilities.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes and strategies that enhance production efficiency.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor materials staff through education, training, coaching, and certification in executing improvement priorities and achieving key performance indicators.
  • Manage and optimize daily warehousing operations, including staging, cycle counting, and material storage.
  • Guarantee efficient and accurate material presentation to support production operations.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Purchasing, and Production teams to devise effective solutions for customer quality and delivery challenges while meeting objectives and KPIs.
  • Facilitate high levels of communication between planning, purchasing, and production to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and enhance Material/Inventory Management best practices, including Warehouse Management (Cycle Count Accuracy, Transactions, Bar Coding, RFID) and Fill Rate.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels for daily material management, balancing resource capacity with workload.
  • Act as a SuperUser for SAP within the assigned functional area.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of leadership experience in materials management.
  • Two years of experience in team leadership, personnel development, or task organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems (Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Formal training in leadership or team development.
  • Experience overseeing inventory management, control, accuracy, and adherence to established inventory guidelines and procedures.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate and hear, as well as use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
