Summer Camp Counselor

The YMCA of the North seeks a motivated and energetic Summer Camp Counselor to join our team. This is a seasonal full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to work with children and families in a fun and interactive environment.

This role involves planning, leading, and coordinating core and non-core programs for children in a small group setting. You will be responsible for the general safety and development of the participants in your group, providing high-quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences that focus on the YMCA's core values of caring, equity, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

• Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group within activities and throughout the camp.
• Apply Social Emotional Learning concepts and basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
• Communicate and work with groups (all ages and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers.
• Ensure campers are properly supervised at all times.

• Adult and Pediatric First Aid & CPR/AED certification provided by the YMCA or other certified organization.
• Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
• Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities with all age levels.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Minimum age of 18 years old.

This role requires working in various weather conditions, including sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, horses, chickens, etc. The ability to physically manage and support children when needed for safety in general camp activities is also required.
