Ironworker

Action Industries Inc is seeking skilled Ironworkers to fill various positions in the Gulf Coast region. As an Ironworker, you will be responsible for erecting, connecting steel and metal structures, rigging, and performing runner functions within a crew. The majority of positions are in a plant environment, but some will be in different environments.

• Erect and connect steel at and above grade elevations
• Practice proper rigging technique
• Use proper hand signals to flag cranes
• Assist other craft workers as needed
• Use hand tools and power tools
• Align bolt holes in steel member using drift pins or spud wrenches
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bob and level
• Bolt align members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place
• Cut steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene equipment and supplies
• Load, transport, unload material, tools, equipment, and supplies
• May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation
• Follow safety regulations and procedures
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Pay close attention to detail and accuracy
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)

• Current TWIC Card
• NCCER Certification with Rigging Preferred
• Knowledge of basic steel erection
• Performs other duties as required
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field

• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as an Ironworker in a plant setting
• Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance work history and experience
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
• Positive disposition, demonstrates passion, integrity, and responsibility
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
• Must have Basic Orientation Plus within 3 months of expiration, TWIC Card, Valid ID/DL, and have social security card available upon hire
