About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Core R&D group within Medtronic's Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health Operating Units in Rice Creek, Minnesota. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting electromagnetic computational modeling and simulation (M&S) based MR safety assessments for implantable devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct M&S based MR safety assessments for implantable devices, including Neurostimulator systems for Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation.
  • Develop and implement MR safety development strategies, including knowledge of MRI Standards for Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDs), model verification and validation in accordance with V&V40 or other standards, in-vivo testing and testing at commercial MRI scanners, data analysis, technical reviews, and report writing.
  • Provide technical leadership on M&S based MR safety development and testing for implantable medical devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement MR safety solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetics and their interactions with medical devices.
  • Proven experience in computational M&S in the context of electromagnetics and medical devices.
  • Proficiency in relevant multiphysics simulation tools, such as Sim4Life or ANSYS.
