Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Oncology Registered Nurse to fulfill the role of Patient Navigator within our Radiation Oncology department. This role is essential in guiding patients through their cancer diagnosis and treatment journey, ensuring they receive comprehensive support during this critical time.
Key Responsibilities:
The Oncology Patient Navigator will be responsible for:
- Conducting thorough assessments and providing counseling to oncology patients and their families.
- Facilitating communication among healthcare providers, patients, and families to enhance care coordination.
- Educating patients about reimbursement systems and advocating for their needs to secure necessary authorizations.
- Identifying and addressing any practices or events that may compromise patient safety.
- Documenting interventions and outcomes accurately in the patient record-keeping system.
- Collaborating with healthcare teams and community resources to ensure patients are informed and engaged in their care plans.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- A minimum of seven to ten years of clinical experience, with a strong emphasis on oncology.
- Preferred experience in Case Management.
- OCN certification is advantageous.
Licensure and Certifications:
Applicants must hold:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Compliance with state licensure requirements.
