Job Description

Job Summary:

The Graphic Design Manager is responsible for overseeing the development process and managing the creative workflow of the design team. This role requires a strong leader who can allocate resources, prioritize projects, and build a culture of design excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage design team members, delegate responsibilities, and provide feedback and training as needed.
  • Collaborate with Senior Director Global Sourcing & Product Development to prioritize and allocate work, ensuring workloads are distributed fairly and the team has opportunities to learn and grow.
  • Direct brainstorming meetings and creative sessions within the design team.
  • Participate in and facilitate design reviews, prep, and post-mortems.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to the design team, helping to navigate projects from initial concept through final production.
  • Cultivate a healthy design process for the team and contribute to the organization's product strategy.
  • Provide up-to-date visibility into current projects, team utilization, project health, and priorities.
  • Create brand standards and incorporate procedures to ensure all products are brand-appropriate.
  • Work closely with Senior Director Global Sourcing & Product Development to design and manage efficient processes that support and elevate the quality of design work.
  • Work with licensor partners to secure required graphic elements and approvals on all licensed projects, ensuring designs align with brand guidelines and standards.
  • Assist in other work-related areas as required.

Requirements:

  • 1 year minimum prior experience in leading and directing a team required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite Software.
  • Outstanding product and packaging design and visual skills.
  • Ability to contribute creative, innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, superior communication, and follow-up skills adapted for internal and external communication.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Ability to multi-task projects to meet deadlines, anticipate issues, self-start priority projects, and provide creative solutions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Proficiency in Adobe, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of typography, layout, color, and user experience.
  • Strong communication and listening skills and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to collaborate with other disciplines and integrate related services into implementation.
  • Display a professional and pleasant demeanor in dealing with coworkers, suppliers, and customers.

Environmental and Physical Activity Requirements:

The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. The position also often requires reaching, lifting, and carrying 20 pounds unassisted, balancing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, and feeling activities. Frequent repetitive motion activities are also required. Must be able to read print and computer-based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperatures.

Intellectual/Emotional Requirements:

The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to manage a number of projects at one time, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities on a daily basis while being responsive to needs as they arise.
