Job Title:
Space Program Quality Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team at L3Harris Imaging Division in Wilmington, MA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance and a passion for space and technology applications.

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing quality plans, standards, and procedures for inspecting and testing space-based imaging systems. This includes ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will analyze reported nonconformities and discrepancies, investigate causes, and develop dispositions and corrective action plans. They will also lead Material Review Board and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis activities.

As a key member of our team, the Quality Engineer will interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.

We are proud of our achievements in space exploration, including building telescopes that took the first close-up pictures of Pluto in support of NASA's New Horizons program and creating the first laser communication device outside the Earth-Moon system.

Essential Functions:
Provide quality engineering support for the design, assembly, and integration of opto-mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Write program quality plans, including inspection planning and program compliance plans.
Lead program quality teams and resolve technical challenges to ensure successful tactical execution.

Work closely with program teams and functional organizations to ensure all phases of the customer life cycle meet mission success requirements.

Facilitate and present formal MRB/RCCA packages to internal and external customers and senior leadership.

Perform design reviews and facilitate design and quality concurrent engineering.

Verify subcontractor inspection or technical document preparation procedures to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

Lead and participate in APQP activities, including PFMEA's on programs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Previous Material Review Board and Review of Mechanical drawings experience.

In-depth knowledge of project management.

Security Clearance required upon hire: Clearance Not Required.

Security Clearance required for role: Ability to Obtain.

Preferred Additional Skills:
Previous APQP experience.

Previous PFMEA, DOE, and RCCA experience.

Experience working with multi-functional teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations).
