Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and support to upper elementary students within an ASD classroom, managing a caseload of five students.
  • Design and execute individualized education programs (IEPs) that cater to the distinct needs of each student.
  • Collaborate effectively with two paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom to ensure holistic support for all students.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to meet educational objectives.
  • Engage with parents, school personnel, and other professionals to enhance student support and educational outcomes.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contributing to the formulation of educational and behavioral strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related discipline.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification with a specialization in Special Education.
  • Experience with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Proven ability to work alongside classroom paraprofessionals to foster a supportive learning environment.
