Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at the Northeast New Mexico Correctional Facility in Clayton, NM. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assess physical, psychological, and psychosocial dimensions of patients within the healthcare unit and, as necessary, in the housing units.
- Apply knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases using available resources in obtaining a health history and in the assessment process.
- Provide leadership to RNs, LPNs, MAs, CNAs, and other nursing paraprofessionals in patient care as related to medical aspects of patient care.
- Review and monitor all offenders receiving medications, as assigned, and maintain charts and records.
- Utilize therapeutic communication skills and effective interviewing techniques to elicit pertinent historical information and make appropriate referrals as required.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A current, valid New Mexico Registered Nursing License.
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience; correctional nursing experience is a plus.
- A Graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred).
