About the Role

The Mental Health Specialist will oversee the mental health program at the county's correctional facilities. This role will work under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that the program is effectively and efficiently meeting the needs of the incarcerated population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medication prescriptions and monitoring, individual counseling, and supervise Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT)
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and conduct monthly audits of patient charts
  • Review and countersign records of mid-level providers and Registered Nurses (RNs)
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and attend Quality Assurance and administrative meetings
  • Refer eligible inmates for 5150 and participate in Quality Management and Peer Review meetings
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in correctional/detention facilities
