- Assess the necessary repair work and prepare accurate cost estimates for customers, utilizing various tools such as cutting guns and hydraulic jacks.
- Repair minor body damage using techniques such as hammering out dents or applying filler resins.
- Realign and straighten vehicle chassis and frames to address structural damage.
- Replace damaged vehicle sections with new or aftermarket parts, including glass and windshields.
- Conduct interior repairs as needed to restore vehicle integrity.
- Weld and fit parts correctly, then prepare and repaint vehicles to match factory specifications.
- Complete all work orders within designated labor time while ensuring quality through thorough inspections post-repair.
Education and/or Experience Required
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a technical school program or a three-year apprenticeship in auto body repair is preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential.
- Strong collaboration skills are necessary to work effectively with other repairers.
- A deep understanding of vehicle body repair methods and procedures is critical.
- Proficiency in using the tools required for auto body repair is necessary.
Additional Requirements
- A willingness to work in a noisy environment with various odors present.
- The ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- The capability to visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
- The physical ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat during repair tasks.
