The estimated salary for this position is around $250,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Primary Care Physician to join our team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in San Antonio, TX. As a primary care physician, you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients with diseases and injuries seeking treatment in the clinic.

Core Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat patients actively, utilizing your expertise in family practice or internal medicine.
  • Examine patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders, determine the nature and extent of injury/disorder, and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans and assist in the provision of continuity of care.
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests as necessary to inform your diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Prescribe medication and recommend dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
  • Counsel patients on the use of prescription medications, educate patients, assess mental health issues, and provide routine health maintenance.
  • Evaluate patients' records from medical providers outside the VA and work with these patients using rules set forth by the VA for co-managed care.
  • Complete clinical reminders due at the time of each patient visit.
  • Document the medical record within 24 hours of a patient encounter.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 4+ years clinical medical practice in a government healthcare environment; specific requirements may vary based on individual VA contract.
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Degree.
  • Board certified in family practice or internal medicine.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support and ACLS, as specified by the certifying agency or individual VAMC contract.
  • Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent computer skills.
