Livestock Inspector

The Department of Food & Agriculture is seeking a highly skilled Livestock Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our Animal Health Branch, you will play a critical role in preventing and controlling livestock and poultry diseases.

• Travel throughout the district and state to assist staff veterinarians in the prevention, control, and eradication of livestock and poultry diseases.
• Maintain a working knowledge of state and federal regulations governing the movement of livestock into and within the state.
• Inspect imported livestock for compliance with California's animal health requirements.
• Respond to animal health crises during disasters and emergencies, manage and provide oversight for clean-up and emergency response efforts.

The duties of this position are performed indoors and outdoors. The incumbent performs duties indoors and outdoors and may occasionally work under difficult conditions.

Regular or recurring telework may occur as part of the incumbent's ongoing regular schedule in accordance with CDFAs Telework Policy.

Travel (including nights, weekends, and holidays) for extended periods may be required for meetings and events as well as during an emergency response.

The incumbent must follow CDFA, Division, and Branch employee health and safety policies.

• A valid California Driver's License (CDL) is required.
• The position requires more than 50% field work.
