SUMMARY:
This role is under the supervision of the VP of Nutrition Services and is focused on delivering exceptional dietary care.

The Dietitian is responsible for developing tailored dietary plans as per the directives of the medical director, conducting nutritional evaluations for patients, and advising patients and their families on dietary choices, food options, and nutritional guidelines.

Additionally, this position includes providing training sessions for the nutritional services team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct nutritional analysis of menus as required for clients.
  • Assist in meeting the nutritional requirements of the facilities by collaborating on menu development and addressing client-specific dietary requests.
  • Stay informed about Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) relevant to the healthcare setting, particularly regarding enteral and parenteral nutrition and dietary texture modifications.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of nutritional standards as outlined in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans across various age demographics.
  • Engage with patients and families to discuss dietary requirements and objectives.
  • Formulate customized dietary plans as requested by the medical director or healthcare team.
  • Oversee patient nutrition care and dietary adherence.
  • Execute nutritional assessments periodically and assist in dietary planning as necessary.
  • Relay any special nutritional needs of patients to the Food Service Director promptly.
  • Contribute to the quality and performance improvement initiatives of the facility.
  • Participate actively in the Nutrition Care committee.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition from an accredited institution.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CDR certification required. Licensure as a registered dietitian in Pennsylvania is preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in various computer applications, particularly in menu analysis software.
  • Familiarity with basic computing and MS Excel spreadsheet applications.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a residential care facility is preferred, though entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment and perform well under pressure.
  • Strong communication and research abilities.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meet client needs, with the requirement to provide personal transportation.
