Position Overview:
We are pleased to present an opportunity for a dedicated nursing professional to join our team as a Nursing Supervisor in the Emergency Department. This role is integral to the leadership structure, collaborating closely with the Manager and other key personnel to ensure optimal patient care and staff development.
Key Responsibilities:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing nursing operations, fostering staff growth through education and performance management, and addressing patient safety and service quality concerns. The Supervisor must demonstrate a thorough understanding of hospital policies and nursing practices, exercising independent judgment in various situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field with significant experience in nursing practice.
- Active and unrestricted RN license in the relevant state.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within the first month of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of nursing experience, ideally within a hospital environment.
Core Duties:
The Nursing Supervisor will:
- Manage nursing personnel to ensure a skilled and cohesive workforce.
- Advise on staffing decisions, including hiring and retention.
- Serve as a role model, promoting teamwork and effective problem-solving.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Utilize data to make informed clinical decisions impacting patient care.
- Assist in resolving patient care issues during off-hours.
- Evaluate staffing needs and ensure resource availability.
- Engage in fiscal management to optimize resource use.
- Maintain open communication with all stakeholders to address issues promptly.
- Monitor patient satisfaction and take action to enhance experiences.
- Support service recovery initiatives for patients and families.
- Ensure compliance with standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Facilitate the professional development of nursing staff through training and orientation.
- Participate in community outreach to promote health education.
Physical and Working Environment:
This role requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environments, including exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases. Flexibility in hours and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
