Position Overview

Job Summary

The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting essential radiologic examinations and performing venipuncture procedures. This role emphasizes adherence to radiation safety protocols to ensure the delivery of high-quality imaging services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts radiologic examinations as per physician directives.
  • Executes routine imaging procedures in alignment with departmental standard operating protocols.
  • Reviews requisitions for physician notes and any specific instructions.
  • Collaborates with Radiologists or physicians as required.
  • Selects appropriate technical parameters tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Operates imaging equipment according to the demands of specific examinations.
  • Assists in maintaining comprehensive patient records.
  • Collects specimens and performs designated diagnostic laboratory tests as instructed by the physician.
  • Prepares specimens for transportation to the Medical Center or State Laboratory for procedures not conducted at the facility.

Physical Demands

This position requires significant physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, and bending. The candidate must be capable of lifting and supporting weights up to 50 pounds while handling patients and medical equipment. An intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity is essential. The ability to concentrate and respond swiftly to changes in patient and clinical conditions is crucial.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. Successful completion of an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology Program is mandatory. Current registration with ARRT or the ability to obtain registration within six months of hire is required. A minimum of one year of experience is preferred. BLS certification is required in accordance with policy guidelines, and maintenance of current certification is necessary.
