The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa is seeking a board certified or board eligible psychiatrist to join our clinical track faculty and the IDMI program. This program provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to adults with co-occurring mental illness, intellectual disability, and challenging behavior in the outpatient and inpatient settings.
Clinical work for this position will include teaching and patient care in the outpatient and/or inpatient setting. We will work closely with you to optimize your clinical assignment based on your interests and career goals. The position is a full-time equivalent and consists of 80% clinical time and 20% academic time.
The Department of Psychiatry offers specialized training to medical students, residents, social workers, nurses, psychologists, and advanced practice providers. We have a long tradition of excellence in research, a well-developed research infrastructure, and ample patient populations that support efforts in a variety of areas of investigation.

Responsibilities:- Provide psychiatric services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Teach and mentor learners in the outpatient and inpatient settings
- Contribute to research efforts in the Department of Psychiatry
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborations
- MD or DO degree and completion of a psychiatry residency
- Commitment to patient care and teaching
- Desire to work with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Ability and willingness to work with an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
