Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical HVAC Journeyman to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our Plant Operations and Maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of all support systems and equipment with an emphasis on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ice making machines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all refrigerators and ice machines.
  • Complete projects on a timely basis and within budget parameters.
  • Maintain current and accurate records of all maintenance inspections and repairs in computerized maintenance management systems and/or on appropriate forms.
  • Ensure work areas, equipment, and supplies are kept clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Participate in processes that support continuous compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Communicate and work with clinical and support staff regarding maintenance requirements, potential impacts to operations, and coordination of activities.
  • Operate all mechanical equipment in the boiler room area, including the emergency generator and cooling tower.
  • Install and repair electrical and plumbing equipment/systems as required.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Rare use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
