  • Position Overview:
    • Role: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
    • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
    • Shift Schedule: 3x12 hour night shifts, from 18:45 to 07:15
    • Unit Description: The Labor and Delivery unit is a 24-bed facility dedicated to providing specialized care for both low and high-risk pregnant patients throughout the antepartum period and during delivery. This unit serves as a referral center for high-risk pregnancies within a significant radius, accommodating patients over 20 weeks gestation. The unit features a triage area, operating rooms, and post-anesthesia beds, with an average of 250 deliveries and 350 triage patients each month.
    • Staffing Guidelines: Based on VDH Obstetrics regulations, the following staffing targets are in place: 1:1-2 for laboring patients, 1:3-4 for antepartum patients, 1:3 for triage patients, 2:1 for OBOR patients, and 1:1-2 for OB PACU patients.
    • Team Composition: The unit includes Clinical Team Leaders (RNs), Preceptors (RNs), Registered Nurses, and Nursing Assistants (NAs). Travel nurses are expected to possess competencies and experience in antepartum, intrapartum, and OBOR.
  • Job Requirements:
    • Prior experience in antepartum, intrapartum, and OBOR is essential.
  • Work Schedule:
    • Full-time commitment of 36 hours per week.
    • Every third weekend is required.
    • Rotating holidays will be part of the schedule.
    • On-call duties are necessary, with a maximum of 24 hours within a 6-week schedule block.
    • Holiday availability: Travelers must be prepared to work during two out of the three major winter holidays.
  • Unit Specific Information:
    • Unit Info: 13 South Labor and Delivery unit.
    • Acceptance of pregnant patients over 20 weeks gestation.
    • Monthly averages: 250 deliveries and 350 triage patients.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • I-9 or attestation is mandatory.
    • E-Verify or attestation is required.
    • Driver's License or State ID must be provided within 48 hours of signing.
