As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will engage in a diverse range of maintenance, repair, and construction activities across multiple trades within the Facilities and Maintenance Department at the University of Alaska System.

This role is a permanent position that operates year-round. Your work schedule may encompass early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends.


To excel in this position, candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively collaborate in a setting that includes individuals from various backgrounds and age groups.

The ideal candidate will possess the skills necessary to execute tasks safely, adhering to established protocols. This includes custodial responsibilities such as restroom sanitation, cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, windows, and furniture as needed, as well as the removal of waste and potential hazards within the facility.

Applicants should be adept at utilizing various hand tools including mops, brushes, shovels, screwdrivers, pliers, ratchets/sockets, and more. Additionally, proficiency in operating power equipment such as carpet cleaners, floor buffers, snow and leaf blowers, mowers, and drills is essential.

The role may also require the cleanup of biohazards and bodily fluids using appropriate disinfectants when necessary. Candidates should also be capable of operating various equipment and vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

An unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record that complies with the university's safe driving standards are mandatory.

Position Details:
This position is based within the University of Alaska System. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff role that includes a competitive salary and a comprehensive employee benefits package.

The University offers a generous compensation package that encompasses retirement options, annual leave, paid holidays, tuition waivers for employees and their family members, as well as affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage.

Salary Information:
