Eligibility Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Eligibility Worker to join our team at Cass County, MN. As an Eligibility Worker, you will play a critical role in assisting citizens in need of public assistance to preserve their families, ensure their dignity and safety, and promote their right to self-determination and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Provide quality service to clients, including applicants and recipients, as well as the general public.
- Conduct interviews to determine initial and ongoing eligibility for public assistance programs, including burials and out-of-home placements.
- Acquire and apply knowledge of financial programs and agency policies to make accurate and prompt eligibility decisions.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, unit staff, agency staff, and other individuals involved in the performance of the Eligibility Worker's responsibilities.
- Three years of clerical experience or experience working with the public, or some combination of the two, totaling three years.
- Or two years of clerical experience in a social services/human services agency.
- Or two years of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or similar institution, with emphasis in the behavioral sciences, business, or closely related subjects.
- Or successful completion of the technical college Human Services Eligibility Worker diploma program.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
The Eligibility Worker will work in an office environment, performing sedentary to light physical activities requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and close vision. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
CompensationThe hourly range for this position is $35.61.
