Environmental Scientist Job Description

Leidos is seeking an Environmental Scientist to support our environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, and monitoring projects. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Senior Staff and provide office and field support for environmental projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental assessments and investigations at sites impacted by petroleum, chlorinated solvents, PFAS, or other contaminants.
  • Prepare project documents, including work plans, technical memorandums, reports, tables, and figures.
  • Lead preparation of project documents with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, scientists, risk assessors, modelers, and environmental data managers.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, site/facility personnel, client contacts, and regulators during field activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or a related field and 4+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience handling multiple project assignments and maintaining flexibility while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing and analysis skills.
  • Must have or be able to obtain OSHA hazardous waste worker certification.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional trainings and certifications related to the environmental field.
  • Experience with knowledge of remediation technologies and remediation systems.
  • Prior experience managing fieldwork.
